How to Set Up Categories and Locations for New RFQs

In this article, we'll cover how to set up categories for the products and services your company sells as well as how to manage your locations.

1. Click on 'Account' on the top right corner of GovSpend.

2. Click on 'Organization Profile'.

3. Scroll down to the "Categories" section.

Here you can search for the categories available and select however many suit your company's needs. To begin searching, first click the Products or Services checkbox (or both) to indicate what kinds of categories you are looking for (the default is set to Products). Then, enter keywords and results will populate automatically.

UNSPSC Codes

We use the United Nations Standard Products and Services Code (UNSPSC)—a uniform glossary that allows vendors and agencies to speak the same language. The UNSPSC starts with a number of broad segments at the top. Those ‘segments’ are broken down into multiple subcategories, which organize all commodities into tight boxes. These broad classes will determine which requests you are notified of, so the more the merrier

  • To select a category, click the 'add' button next to the category's box. The category will move to the right side of the page, indicating that it has been selected.
  • To remove a category, click the 'remove' button next to the category's box. The category will move back to the left side of the page, indicating that it has been removed.
  • To remove all categories, click the Clear All button on the right side of the page.
  • To view subcategory and commodity information, click on the category name.

Once you are finished selecting categories, click the Done button.

Please note: If you know your product’s UNSPSC code, you will be able to quickly identify your category. For example, the UNSPSC code for "Dip Card Drug Test" is 41116146. Entering the code will only bring the right category up.

 

Changing Locations:

To receive requests only from certain states:

1. Click on 'Account' in the top right corner of GovSpend.

2. Click on 'Organization Profile.'

3. Scroll down to "Service or delivery areas for quote requests."

4. Click on the checkboxes for the states that you can work in.

5. Click the 'Save' button.
