MCP Server: OAth

Connecting to our MCP is now faster and easier than ever. You can complete setup in just a few clicks, reducing what was previously a more manual and complex process to just a couple of minutes.

Do I Need to Reconnect?

No. Existing connections will continue to work as expected, and you are not required to reconnect.

However, the new connection experience significantly simplifies setup and reconnection, making it easier to manage your MCP connection in the future.

Requirements

To connect to the GovSpend MCP, you'll need:

  • A compatible AI platform or LLM, such as:
    • Claude
    • Microsoft Copilot
    • ChatGPT
    • Mastra
    • OpenWebUI
  • Your GovSpend MCP URL and API Key (available within GovSpend or from your Relationship Manager)
  • An Organization Administrator to:
    • Add the GovSpend MCP connector
    • Enable custom connectors for other users within your organization

Once an Organization Administrator has added the connector, other members of the organization can typically access it without needing to manually enter the MCP URL.

Limitations

Please be aware of the following limitations:

Platform Support

Not all AI platforms currently support custom MCP connectors. For example, Google Gemini does not currently support custom connectors.

Authentication Method

The GovSpend MCP currently uses API key authentication rather than a traditional username/password login flow.

API Key Sharing

We strongly recommend that users do not share API keys.

Sharing API keys can:

  • Share access to signals, CUPs, and other account-specific data
  • Increase the likelihood of reaching API rate limits
  • Reduce visibility into individual user activity and usage

For the best experience, each user should connect using their own API key whenever possible.
